Sea Fishing Festival
The annual sea fishing festival at Sørøya is very popular with sea anglers because they are guaranteed to catch a fish. Here dreams of catching huge cod are turned into reality. The record is 37,5 kg. and there is normally well over 100 anglers participating every year.

In 2002 Sørøy sea fishing festival was voted the best of the  27 festivals in the Norwegian Sea fishing championship

Many boats from all over Sørøya ferry the anglers out to the fishing grounds. The boats are fitted with the latest equiptment which include  GPS, ecco finder, VHF, Radar, Electronic charts and have high rails all around the boat.

Life Boats are always with us through out the festival. They give us the signal when the boat can go out to the fishing grounds . Only now can 5 hours of intense fishing begin.
